We treat the surface “spider” vascular capillaries, which are small purple or red veins that stretch like a web near the surface of the skin and are typically discolored clusters.

The GEM Pulse Light energy shakes the structure of the RBC (red blood cells) layer, allowing the body to remove it and to make the vascular disappear with no side effects, discomfort or downtime.

How Does It Work?

Broad-spectrum wavelengths are absorbed in the hemoglobin of the clotted blood that gives the “spider” vascular its color. The “spider” vascular capillaries are very narrow, as a cause sometimes blood cells get “stuck” in these capillaries. Other RBC that comes into that capillary gets stuck behind the first one and form a layer of clotted blood which gives the capillary its color. The capillaries are seen when they are near the surface of the skin or when the skin becomes thin due to loss of the collagen layer.

We treat the capillaries with two treatment levels: 

 1. The light energy breaks the layer of clotted RBC. When they are single molecules they can pass through the vein and dissolve in the body, thus resulting in free blood flow through the capillary and the disappearance of the purple color.

2. The other part of the treatment is to stimulate the collagen layer to produce more collagen, resulting in skin rejuvenation and concealing the vine in the new, thicker skin.

Treatment Procedure:

During the treatment, you will be asked to put on protective eye wear, a layer of chilled gel is applied to the area to cool the skin and allow the light to more easily penetrate the skin's surface. The machine handle is placed against the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The handle is moved to the neighboring area until the entire area has been treated. Most patients describe the treatment as painless and acceptable. No anesthesia is required.

Expected Results:

After several treatments the entire layer moves away from the vein capillaries and the purple color is gone.
